New, entertaining shows for children on DStv
11 Feb 2013

DSTV’S children’s channels are flighting a host of new series in February.

On Nickelodeon (DStv channel 305) viewers can see the African TV premiere of the CGI animated buddy comedy Robot & Monster, and new episodes of The Penguins of Madagascar and Bubble Guppies.

Robot & Monster follows the lives of inseparable friends Robot and Monster, who inhabit a strange and surreal world where robots and monsters live side-by-side and everybody is united by a love of bacon. See it at 5.45 pm on Monday, February 18.

You would never think that cute-looking penguins Rico, Kowalski, Skipper and Private, a.k.a. The Penguins of Madagascar, were actually an elite strike force with unmatched commando skills and a secret headquarters.

Yet these wily and wacky amphibians have a vital mission: to maintain order at New York City Zoo despite all the efforts of their nemesis King Julien, the self-proclaimed “King of the Lemurs”, to thwart them. Catch new episodes of the show tonight, Wednesday and Friday at 5.20 pm.

Pre-schoolers can discover a watery world of learning and laughter in Bubble Guppies, an interactive show that helps children discover a wide range of topics, from dinosaurs to dentists, rock ’n roll to recycling, and colours to cowboys.

Over on CBeebies (DStv channel 306), children can watch new episodes of the hilarious series, Shaun the Sheep, at 7.30 am and 3.30 pm from February 18.

First seen in Oscar-winning short film Wallace And Gromit: A Close Shave, Shaun is a sheep who doesn’t follow the flock. In fact, he leads them into all sorts of scrapes and scraps, turning peace in the valley into mayhem in the meadow.

The little ones can also look forward to several new treats on Disney’s channels on DStv.

Disney XD (DStv channel 304) will be screening one of Disney’s most popular animated films, Toy Story, at 3.15 pm on Friday, February 15.

In this buddy movie with a difference, Woody, a traditional pull-string talking cowboy discovers a rival in Buzz Lightyear, the coolest space action figure ever made. As they compete for the attention of their owner, Andy, their rivalry gets them into all kinds of scrapes and mishaps.

Over on Disney Junior (DStv channel 309), children are invited to join Minnie Mouse for Minnie’s Valentine’s Day Special from 9.35 am on February 14. Minnie will be starring in specially chosen romantic episodes of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, as well as episodes of Minnie’s Bow Toons.

Last, but not least at 7.05 am from today through Friday, fans of Phineas and Ferb can catch special romance-themed episodes revolving around the boys’ sister, Candace and her boyfriend, Jeremy, of the series on Disney Channel (Dstv channel 303).
