HOME-COOKING heroine Nigella Lawson brings her new programme, Nigellissima, to BBC Lifestyle (DStv channel 174) at 8.30 pm on Tuesdays, starting today.
In this series, Lawson aims to bring the spirit and taste of Italy into the kitchen and onto the plate.
She shows viewers how easy it can be to create fresh feasts from everyday ingredients, with her quick and easy recipes.
With her passion for Italy and Italian cooking — she lived and worked in Florence before reading Italian at Oxford University — Lawson’s mouth-watering dishes have their roots in tradition, but take us into fresh territory.
They are light of touch, but bursting full of taste.
Over the six episodes, she produces everything from simple Sicilian pasta to sumptuous gourmet dinners.
She dishes up tantalisingly tasty treats along the way, including chocolate olive oil cake, dark and deviant liquorice pudding, and an irresistible meringue gelato cake.
