AFTER winning the toss against Easterns and electing to bat, the KZN Inland side were on 218 for nine in 77 overs when bad light brought day one of this Provincial Three-Day Challenge match to a premature end at the Maritzburg Oval yesterday.

Inland started badly and were reeling on 12 for the loss of two wickets and then 64 for four before a semblance of order was restored through an 83-run partnership for the fifth wicket between Glen Addicott (45) and captain Kyle Nipper, who top-scored with a three-hour score of 75 off 137 balls that included 10 fours and one six.

Earlier, the hugely talented Devon Conway was dismissed for 43.

Easterns’ opening bowler, Dillon Stanley, took four for 53 off 18 overs. Shaun Liebisch snapped up five wickets for just 34 runs off 21 miserly overs.
