Chota Motala: union talks halt repair of burst pipe

A GENERAL meeting yesterday morning by members of the South African Municipal Workers’ Union prevented the speedy restoration of the water supply to Chota Motala Road.

Concerned residents told The Witness that the road had been without water for two days which had affected operations at the Daymed Private Hospital.

Msunduzi municipal spokesperson Brian Zuma said a burst pipe was causing the problem and that water mains had to be switched off for maintenance.

The water supply had been restored to the road on Wednesday, but a recurring problem meant that the council had to switch off the mains once again, which affected residents for over five hours.
