Tables at the end of the 2010/11 annual report on the KwaZuluNatal Represented Political Parties Fund show the DA had spent the bulk of its funds on staff costs, administration costs and on promotion and publications.
The ANC used up the bulk of its funds on meetings, rallies and administration costs.
Former KZN DA leader Roger Burrows objected strongly when the bill was proposed just before the 2009 elections. He felt parties, already funded by national government, did not need more from the province. He was then concerned about KZN’s cash crisis and claimed the ANC was trying to get more funds into its election coffers.
