Bongumusa Ntuli (35) appeared at the Mahlabathini Magistrate’s Court yesterday. He was remanded in custody until March 8 when he will apply for bail.
The police said Mthethwa was dropping off his domestic worker when an unknown vehicle stopped and occupants opened fire on him. He died at the scene.
Provincial police spokesperson Captain Thulani Zwane said they expect to make further arrests as they do not believe Ntuli acted alone.
Meanwhile, Lungisani Mabaso (29) was arrested for allegedly killing a taxi owner, Celani Ngobese (33), in the Nqutu area. The suspect was arrested in Gauteng on Thursday last week.
He appeared in the Nqutu Magistrate’s Court yesterday and was remanded in custody until February 27 for a bail hearing. — WR.
