WARTBURG VS VOORTREKKER
This was a good result for Wartburg after they won the toss and elected to bat. Voortrekker have blown hot and cold this year and on Saturday they were cold as their batting was woeful.
Wartburg did not last their 50 overs, but they did score 147 all out in the 39th over. Voortrekker bowlers had to use a wet ball as the drizzle interrupted play during the Wartburg innings, although they played through some of the light drizzle. Despite this Pieter van Jaarsveld and Michael Mynhardt both captured four wickets.
It was the third-wicket partnership between Johan Koning and Shane Lacon-Allin of 49 off 98 balls that enabled them to reach their total. Koning finished on 45 off 98 balls and Lacon-Allin 24 off 47 balls. Voortrekker lasted just 22 overs being all out for a paltry 56. The best of the Wartburg bowlers were Ralph Wittig and Lacon-Allin with three wickets apiece.
