Fifa 2010: 400 000 tickets on sale

THE fourth ticket sales phase for the 2010 Fifa World Cup starts today.

The Fifa World Cup ticketing sub-committee said a minimum of 400 000 tickets for a total of 53 matches will be available until April 7, allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Applications can be made via www.fifa.com/2010 or at FNB branches.

Organisers are satisfied with the sales so far, having sold two million tickets, said sub-committee chairman Horst Schmidt.

There are still two more ticket phases, Schmidt added.

Tickets for 11 of the 64 World Cup matches will not be available at this stage. The matches are: 5 England v U.S.; 23 England v Algeria; 37 Sweden v England; 45 Portugal v Brazil; 54 Round of 16 at Ellis Park, Johannesburg; 56 Round of 16 at Cape Town; 59 quarter-final at Cape Town; 60 quarter-final at Ellis Park, Johannesburg; 61 semi-final in Cape Town; 62 semi-final in Durban; and 64 the final at Soccer City, Johannesburg.
