Tutu’s book for kids
14 Oct 2009

IN warm and simple words, Nobel Peace Prize winner Archbishop emeritus Desmond Tutu reaches out to children everywhere with his inspiring message of love and forgiveness in the book, God’s Dream.

Published by Jacana Media, the book, which was co-authored by Douglas Carlton Abrams and illustrated by LeUyen Pham, is available in all 11 South African languages.

God’s Dream is ideal for children from preschool age to Grade 2 and uses simple language to convey the message that although we come from different lands, have different eyes and skin, and talk to God in different ways, we are still brothers and sisters. This message is reinforced by the graphite, watercolour, and ink illustrations of multicultural youngsters engaged in carefree pastimes.

God’s Dream was launched at the National Library’s Centre for the Book last week to coincide with Tutu’s 78th birthday. — Arts Editor
