Judge: ‘tired’ of late arrivals
15 May 2009
Ingrid Oellermann

JUDGE Herbert Msimang yesterday said he is tired of prisoners arriving late for trial at the high court in Pietermaritzburg and said he intends taking up the matter with the minister of Correctional Services.

Judge Msimang said this after it was explained by state advocate Dalene Barnard that the reason proceedings in the murder trial of Sanesh Manilall, Mumtaz Osman and Mboniseni Victor Mbatha were delayed yesterday morning was that the prisoners were not brought to court on time.

The judge said valuable court time is wasted and everyone is inconvenienced when the prisoners do not arrive one time and said it was “high time” it stopped. — WR.
