Goldfish in the gardens

Witness Reporter

THE two talented South African musicians who make up the band Goldfish — David Poole and Dominic Peters — are taking South Africa by storm with their quirky and catchy electronic music.

The pair attract large audiences at concerts around South Africa and they have enjoyed huge success on their overseas concert tours. They’ll be bringing their show to the Durban Botanical Gardens on November 8, at 3.30 pm.

Both Poole and Peters are classically trained musicians who honed their skills as jazz musicians playing in various South African bands until they channelled their musical talents into using samplers, a groove box, keyboards, upright bass and saxophones, to obtain the unique Goldfish sound.

The concert in the gardens will open at 2.30 pm with Rise, a Durban band formed in 2007 whose members are Martin McHale (decks), Kerry Wood (vocals) and Coin Peddie (guitar). Their music offers a strong emphasis on vocals, guitar and catchy dance beats and uplifting songs.

Early-bird ticket prices are R70 for adults and R20 for children six to 12 years, available at tunegum.com Early booking is advised.

Secure parking is available on the Juventus ground off lower St Thomas Road, adjacent to the Botanic Gardens and the Munies Hockey Field off lower Sydenham Road.
